The San Diego Padres were established in 1969 and are a member of the National League West Division. From 1969-2003 they called Qualcomm Stadium their home, but now they play their home games at PETCO Park. They are one of five MLB teams that reside in California. Tony Gwynn and Dave Winfield top the list of Hall of Famers to play for the Padres. Former Padres closer, Trevor Hoffman is 2nd all time in saves with 601.
The Padres have enjoyed a fair amount of success with a total of 5 Division titles. They have won the National League Pennant twice in 1984 and 1998, losing to the Tigers and Yankees respectively. Only one Padre has ever won the Most Valuable Player Award, with that player being Ken Caminiti in 1996.
