It sure does get hot in Houston, and the Astros sure have a history of flamethrowers to back it up. Nolan Ryan, Roger Clemens, and Randy Johnson are all notable fireballers who have spent time with the club. Some of the most intimidating hitters have also made their mark in Houston. The Killer Bís of the 1990s were a deadly combination for opposing pitchers, as Craig Biggio, Jeff Bagwell, and Lance Berkman worked together to torture pitching staffs.
In 2005, the Astros became the first team since 1914 to make the playoffs after being 15 games under .500. They brought the World Series to Texas for the first time ever, and in a big way: the game took nearly six hours! They say everythingís bigger in Texas, and they sure are right.
